From someone who has had cystic or nodular acne: every one of these cores under the skin feels like a BB. They hurt. They hurt every time you touch your face. As bad as it looks, removing these cores is a huge relief. These places will heal up quickly after this treatment given proper hygiene practices. Notice the force this esthetician used to squeeze-out each deeply embedded core--there is no other way these cores would be excavated from this person's skin AND these cores would remain in the skin as cysts even after relief from inflammation and swelling. When a person takes antibiotics for acne, some relief and healing may occur. However, bacteria quickly become resistant to antibiotics requiring constant antibiotic changes and/or ever increasing doses. I've been there and it isn't fun.
